Introducing OromMac
Two small apps for the Mac features Apple forgot. Each fixes one thing properly, costs €9 once, and is free to try for 14 days.
I use a Mac all day, and I love it. But a few small things kept breaking my flow, year after year, release after release. AirPods that wandered off to my iPhone. Music that suddenly sounded like a phone call. Mission Control showing me every window I had open and not letting me close a single one of them.
I waited for Apple to fix these. Then I stopped waiting and fixed them myself. OromMac is the name I sell those fixes under: small, focused Mac apps from me, Ondřej, an engineer in Prague.
SoundPost: AirPods and headphones that behave
SoundPost lives in your menu bar and takes care of the everyday audio annoyances.
- One-click connect. Your AirPods connect from the menu bar, even when they're currently paired to your iPhone.
- Music stays full quality. When Siri, dictation or a web page touches the mic, macOS drops your headphones to call quality for the rest of the day. SoundPost keeps your Mac's own mic as the input, so music stays at full 48 kHz. Meeting apps still get the headphone mic, and full quality comes back when the call ends.
- ▶︎ controls the right player. The play key goes to the app you were actually listening to, not Apple Music.
- Volume per app. Turn the call down without touching the music.
It needs macOS 14.4 or later. More about SoundPost, or download the free trial.
Mission Boost: close windows right from Mission Control
Mission Boost adds what Mission Control has always been missing: a way to act on the windows it shows you.
- Hover and click ✕. A close button appears on the window under your cursor.
- Shortcuts that work. ⌘W, ⌘M, ⌘F and ⌘H close, minimize, go full screen or hide, right inside Mission Control.
- Tiny. About 11 MB of memory, five looks and three sizes for the buttons.
It runs on macOS 13 or later. More about Mission Boost, or download the free trial.
How buying works
I wanted these apps to be the kind I'd want to buy myself, so the deal is simple:
- Try everything free for 14 days. No account, no card, no key.
- Pay once. €9 for one Mac, or €29 for five Macs while the store is new (35% off). Every 1.x update is included.
- No tracking. The apps have no analytics. The only thing that leaves your Mac is the license check.
- Refunds, no questions. Not for you? Email me within 14 days and you get your money back.
The apps aren't on the Mac App Store because Apple's sandbox blocks exactly what they need to do. Instead they're signed with my Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens them cleanly.
What's next
More apps are on the bench, same deal for each: free trial, pay once. If something about macOS bugs you every day, tell me about it. That's exactly how these two started.
